TITLE: Aged Woman Dies of the Effects of Fall Mrs. Louise Varcoe Passes Away at San Jose Hospital. Injuries received a week ago in a fall yesterday resulted in the death of Mrs. Louise Varcoe, aged 72, at a local sanitarium, where she had been attended by Dr. J. U. Hall and Dr. M. D. Baker. Mrs. Varcoe fell while visiting a friend on North First street. and suffered a fractured hip. She appeared to be suffering greatly from the shock of the accident when taken to the hospital. She rallied Tuesday, but a relapse followed which brought on her death. Mrs. Varcoe was a native of England, and had been in this country for the past 42 years. Her husband died 19 years ago. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Tonkin of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Goldworthy, Big Oak Flat. and Mrs. Susan Bunney, a resident of Oakland. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the undertaking establishment of the W. L. Woodrow company. |
