Manuscript written by Jimmie Schneider entitled "A STUDY IN SCARLET". He may have intended that this be included in his book "Quicksilver: The Complete History of the Santa Clara County's New Almaden Mine:. This manuscript was not included in the book. This manuscript is written as a non-fiction novel, and the persons are actual. It tells the story of the legal complications with original ownership of the New Almaden mining property. The story ends abruptly, being incomplete. The next version of "A STUDY IN SCARLET" is found in Object ID 2018.2.015 (Old# 1999-013-010B). Persons in the story are: Charles Fossat-A wealthy retired sea captain who was captivated by quicksilver mining Henry Laurencel-Plotted with Fossat to acquire mining rights in the Capitancillos range that included the San Vicente Rancho and the Capitancillos Rancho. Barron & Forbes Co. who were intent on mining quicksilver on the Capitancillos Range. The complicated land and mining ownerships led to major legal court action. |
