Mae West Film Movie on Almaden Hills
The rugged hill country about Almaden mines was tentatively approved yesterday as back-ground for a coming historical film in which Mae West, blonde writer-actress, will be starred.
Production, if plans of Producer Boris Petroff and Manager James Timolney are successful, will begin in about eight weeks.
Petroff, who stopped at the St. Claire hotel last evening with Timolney and Ben Black, showman and former Almaden district club operator, said writers were already working on a story of early California mining.
Miss West's representatives reviewed the mine location yesterday, announced themselves as very much satisfied with its possibilities."
Through his familiarity with the area, Petroff said, Black was able to recommend the Almaden mine workings as ideal as a setting for Miss West's projected picture.
